Rumor Alert: Freestyle Music Park- Coaster Buyer Found?

Rumor Alert: Freestyle Music Park- Coaster Buyer Found? Perhaps!

Some interesting news from Screamscape and Freestyle Music Park today.

Seems a Mosley Erecting truck was spotted at the park, in the general area of the Led Zeppelin roller coaster. This means perhaps a buyer for one of the parks SBNO (Standing but Not Operating) coasters has been found! All the rides in the park have been 'for sale' for nearly a year now, including the big roller coasters but to this date we've only seen small rides (flat rides) be removed.

We've also had plenty of rumors! Ones ranging from the roller coasters had all been sold to China and other stating that other amusement parks had interest in buying up the coasters.

This newest siting/rumor is slightly different though. Mostly because Mosley does a LOT of big construction with southern roller coasters and amusement parks, they've also done a lot of installation work for parks like Dollywood, Kings Dominion and Carowinds. It could mean one or several of the rides have been sold finally and will be removed.. however, until something happens I'm going to keep this classed as a rumor.

Will pass along anymore information or rumors when such become available!

The Status of Flying Turns

The Status of Flying Turns

The simple fact of the matter is this: No One Knows.

In 2006 Knoebels Amusement Resort began building one of the most enthusiastic and anticipated roller coasters to date, giving it the name "Flying Turns". To understand, Flying Turns is style of roller coaster, a bobsled but made entirely of wood. One hasn't been built since 1940 and currently there are no operating wooden coasters of this style left in the world. So you can imagine the hype that Knoebels got when they announced they planned to build an antique coaster in this style.

The problem is this, no one alive today has knowledge of how to build this ride. Only the plans which are from a ride designed by John Miller and John Bartlett from the 1920's.

Daily Distraction- Thursday 5/31

Thursday 5/31

Today's Distraction is a Double since today we're all saying a fond goodbye to a classic Disney World attraction. Today is the last day of operations for "Snow Whites Scary Adventures" at the Magic Kingdom, if you can I suggest you go today and get your last ride on a classic attraction before it disappears into the halls of history.  Later this week I'll post up some of my own photos and some ride-threw video dedicated to Snow White.

Today's real distraction comes from a website which focuses on old amusement parks from the past. Defunct Amusement Parks is a great list and picture archive of the parks our parents and grandparents grew up going to. From the small  local jobs to much larger parks which have also disappeared into the halls of history. Places like Palisades Park and Dogpatch USA.  So go and take a look, some of these are sad but beautiful at the same time. One of these days I'll get down to some of these places, the ones that are still standing but not operating to explore them!
