Carowinds is spending some of their big new budget on repainting. Both Afterburn and Ricochet are getting fresh coats of paint for the 2014 season.

Afterburn, which is a B&M version of the old Paramount Parks "Top Gun" coaster, will celebrate it's 15th birthday during the 2014 season and is seeing some much needed attention in return. Carowinds has posted several new photo's to their Facebook Page showing Afterburn getting a coat of primer.

No one is currently sure if the coaster will be repainted in it's current colors or if it'll be receiving a new color for it's birthday.

Ricochet, the parks 'Wild Mouse' coaster, is also getting a new paint job for 2014.

Carowind's reports on it's Facebook page that the track will now be painted a 'lime green' color to go with the new blue and teal supports.

Berkshire East Ski Resort is building the Longest Alpine Coaster in the US.

Just approved, Berkshire East Ski Resort in Charlemont, Massachusetts will be building the largest alpine coaster in the US.  This new attraction will be installed near the ski area/canopy tour area of the resort.

Reportedly a mile long, the 3,775 foot long decent will wind down the side of the mountain where currently not ski trails exist. The ride which will feature a total of 30 ride cars which each seat two people, the ride will travel down around 27 MPH. Featuring a true "lift hill" the cars will be pulled up from the bottom loading area and travel down, the ride will also feature the first automatic breaking system on an Alpine coaster. It will stop the ride if someone unbuckles their safety belt or if the car in front stops.

Co-owner Joe Schaefer has wanted to install an alpine coaster for years and plans to keep the ride open all year round, using terrain that isn't suitable for anything else.

Canada's Wonderland- Wonder Mountain's Guardian Name Change.. that isn't!

Wonder Mountain's Guardian- Name Change isn't a Name Change.

We've finally got some information in regards to the possible 'name change' rumor which has been circulation around Canada's Wonderland and their newest attraction, Wonder Mountain's Guardian.

According to Screamscape, The name "Wonder Mountain's Guardian" will not change.  The name "Guardian-Quest for Gold" is simply the name of the 2014 seasons game which you play on the ride. Canada's Wonderland has now leaked that plan is to upgrade and change the 'game' played on the ride each season, keeping it new and fresh for park visitors.

This also lends in to what many of us read during the 2013 IAAPA convention, where the creators and designers of the new attraction hinted that during Halloween a 'zombie' theme could be coming.

Canada's Wonderland- Wonder Mountian's Guardian Name Change?!

What is going on up at Canada's Wonderland?!

Wow, this one came way out of left field.

According to Screamscape, Canada's Wonderland may have just quietly changed the name of their new attraction for 2014. Wonder Mountain's Guardian may now be called "Guardian- The Quest of Gold" according to Season Passholder email.

Image from Screamscape

This is the image in question with the possible new name change. Nothing has been confirmed by Canada's Wonderland right now and according to their website, the name "Wonder Mountain's Guardian" is still listed as the attractions proper name.

Could this be some clever photo-shopping at work or is the park really going with this new name? More information when we find out!

Rumor Update- King Kong/Skull Island at Universal Orlando

The long rumored "King Kong 360 3D" or 'Skull Island Project' may well be true.

Today Screamscape reported that the possible new attraction may well have an announcement day coming soon.  As early as Spring of 2014 and possibly before the official opening of the new Wizarding World of Harry Potter-Diagon Alley area.

Rumor suggests this new area may be placed in the Islands of Adventure theme park, possibly someplace between Toon Lagoon and the Jurassic Park area. Details are unknown and as of right now this is still classed only as a "rumor".
