The Beast - 35th Anniversary!!

Happy 35th Birthday to King's Island The Beast!!!!

Hello peoples!!

Yesterday was the 35th Anniversary of The Beast at King's Island.  In 1979 King's Island unveiled the monster that we know and love to the public.

So here is some info about the angry coaster:

Length:7,359 ft
Height:110 ft
Drop:141 ft
Inversions:0
Speed:64.8 mph**
Duration:4:10
Capacity: 1,200 riders per hour

**(We call BS on this because ISI has clocked her running around 80mph and anyone who has ridden the coaster knows that as it gets cooler outside Beast runs faster.  I killed a bug with my face because of her speed, trust me.)

Seaworld Orlando- Bands, Brews and BBQ Concert Update

Seaworld Orlando's "Bands, Brews and BBQ" Concert Artist Update

Seaworld Orlando has again released the names of this weekends artists from their seasonal event- Bands, Brews and BBQ.  Both parks having this event are slowly announcing their artists by the week, avoiding additional problems from overzealous advocates.

This week they've really gotten some BIG NAME artists.

Cedar Point- Planning a New "Slingshot" Ride?

Crazy new find today regarding Cedar Point.

Image from CPFans
CPFans reports that they've uncovered a sneaky plan from Cedar Point, located in Sandusky, Ohio. Found on the Federal Avation Admission website, it says Cedar Point is seeking permission to build a 236 foot tall "Slingshot" style attraction.

By using the information on the submission, they believe this new attraction would go in near the Gemini Restrooms.  Which leaves us with as many questions as the CPFans website has- Why haven't we heard about this? Is it for the 2014 Season? Will it be an up-charge attraction?

More news as we find out!

Kennywood Park- Adding New Restaurant

Kennywood Park Adding New Restaurant in 2015

Well some good news for Kennywood Park Fans, it seems that Parques Renuidos is finally putting some money into Kennywood. While we've all been hoping for improved in regards to maintenance and upkeep, this may be a good sign they are finally going to move in the right direction.

According to Kennywood's Website, "Something NEW coming in 2014" is listed under "Family Style Dining".  It will be the first "sit down" style restaurant in the park for at least 30 years, Johnny Rockets will be coming to Kennywood.

WTAE of Pittsburgh reports that the new Johnny Rockets will take over the "Carousel Food Court" the building will be renovated to accompany the new plans but the famous exterior will remain. While it's unlikely this amusement park location will offer a full menu, you can get a glimpse of what Johnny Rockets offers- Check out their Website Menu!

Adlabs Imagica Coaster Accident Injures Two

Yesterday, February 5th, the Bandits of Robin Hood coaster at the Adlabs Imagica theme park near Mumbai, India had a catastrophic failure.

Two people are known to be injured from the incident, 32 year old Purnima Rathi and her 14 year old daughter. Purnima suffered an undisclosed head injury and her daughter some kind of injury to her jaw (details are a bit lacking).

The coaster, less than a year old and built by Italy's I.E. Park, is what most of us in the US would call a "kiddie coaster". How exactly the back two cars of the train were able to derail is not a mystery to the media, coaster enthusiasts and riders themselves, but the park is at a loss as well.

The ride is closed until further notice as they look into the cause of the accident and try to piece together what happened and how to prevent it from happening in the future.

Chief Operating Officer Adlabs Imagica, Vincent Pijnenburg, had this to say about the incident:
“We have always complied with the maintenance and operational procedures recommended by the manufacturers of every ride. The safety of our guests and employees is our company’s utmost priority. We regret this incident but are extremely grateful that everyone is safe.”
Adding to a bit of the confusion of just what happened was this statement released shortly after by Ashutosh Kale, Assistant Vice President Adlabs Imagica Safety and Security,
"In accordance with our daily safety procedures every ride is checked for safety and technical issues before being run for our guests through a night long maintenance schedule. 3 test runs were carried on the ride before opening it for the guests. We have never faced a situation like this before and we are coordinating with the ride manufacturer to ensure that no future untoward incident occurs.”
Hopefully Purnima and her daughter were not injured too badly and the cause of the accident is discovered and snuffed out before anything else like this happens. We here at InSanity lurks Inside hate to hear about accidents at theme parks and hope all will be well with park and especially the family involved.

Banshee Watch 2/6

Banshee Watch: February 6

Hello Peoples!!!

Sorry that I fell behind (ok very behind) in posting these myself but family matters come first.  Anywho I'm starting back with an awesome announcement:

The Banshee Ride Cars Have Arrived!!!!!!

The first car for King's Island Banshee coaster arrived yesterday afternoon.  Banshee will operate with three steel and fiberglass trains, each one containing eight cars. Each car seats four riders in a single row for a total of 32 riders per train.  Riders will be held in by flexible over-the-shoulder restraints and interlocking lap belts, these are very similar to those used on other B&M wing coasters; but the neat part is that this is a first for an inverted roller coaster.  Each train will be painted a different color; blue, green and purple, and this looks to be the blue train.

Public Service Announcement

Public Service Announcement

Dear Readers,
While most of you are awesome and have respect for other peoples opinions, some do not.

So I'm going to say this as nicely as possible. Please don't be a douche. Do not insult people, do not call names or be rude, do not slander or otherwise act like your parents didn't teach you manners.  The internet does NOT make you a bigger person for belittling someone else, it makes you an idiot. We laugh at idiots around here.

If you can't behave like a decent human being without insulting someone, your comment will be removed without hesitation. Do not insult me, Do not insult other peoples comments. The staff of ISI does our best to be fair to everyone but in the end, it's our blog. If we find your comments inappropriate and falling under any of our "don't be a douche" rules, it will be deleted and likely reported.

 Okay. Warning Over.
 Go about your business folks!
 More Updates Tomorrow!

Seaworld Follows the Law, PETA Doesn't Like It.

Seaworld Follows the Law, PETA Doesn't Like It.

Now I fully admit, I'm NOT a fan of PETA. Any organization which willingly kills animals rather than adopting them to loving homes should be beaten without mercy.

However, Stupid knows no bounds and PETA has just proven how stupid they really are in their latest move against Seaworld Parks.

 1. PETA bought 80 shares of Seaworld Stock when the company went public on April 19th, 2013.
Why would PETA spend money on stocks for a company their trying (and failing) to shut down? What a complete waste of resources, I wonder if their supporters know about that? They currently own around $2,500 worth of stock in Seaworld Parks, not much when you think about it.

2. Seaworld is holding it's annual stockholders meeting on April 17th.
At this meeting PETA wants to propose that shareholders vote to retire all the Killer Whales to "Coastal Sanctuaries".  It's unlikely they'd even get a portion of the vote for this insane proposition, most people purchase stocks because they like the company and hope to make money on it. Removing the Killer Whales from Seaworld would loose money. Now, don't get your knickers in a twist about "animal rights" and "captivity". Simply look at this from the perspective of the people who own that stock. Not going to happen PETA.

3. Federal Regulation requires stockholders to have stock in a company at least One Year before they can propose proxy votes for the board.
PETA, being the idiots they are, have filed against Seaworld with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission for following Federal Regulation. Yes, you read that correctly. Seaworld is following the law and PETA is mad about it. Their complaint will be ignored.

California's Great America- Flight Deck Repainting

Some news today from California's Great America Park- It seems they've banished the ghost of "all black track" finally.

Screamscape has reported that the park is re-painting their "Flight Deck" attraction to a lovely shade or red and white, breathing some new colors into the once colorless ride. Fans are starting to wonder if perhaps this re-painting will also come with a new name and possibly even a new theme? So far, no real answers yet.

Inside Seven Dwarfs Mine Train

Inside the New "Seven Dwarfs Mine Train" Attraction.

The Disney Parks Blog has favored fans with a treat over the weekend. A quick and teasing look inside the new attraction coming to Disney World's Magic Kingdom in 2014, The Seven Dwarfs Mine Train.

Showing off some of the mysterious interior of the attraction as well as the theme work going on, the park is building up the hype for this newest addition to Fantasyland.

This new ride, themed off "Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs" replaced the old attraction of "Snow White's Scary Adventures". A family roller coaster, it's the newest mountain range to be added to Disney World.

We've included another image from the post below! Overall, it's looking pretty awesome but still leaves a LOT of questions about the ride.

All images are from Disney. You can see the full post by visiting- The Disney Parks Blog: All in the Details for more images.
