Banshee Media Preview and Ride Review

King's Island- Banshee Media Day Ride Review.

When we were invited to join the press for King's Island's newest roller coaster, Banshee, it was easy to say our excitement level went into orbit. We've been following this newest addition closely from it's announcement, through construction and initial testing. Our expectations were high and our hopes were higher yet for this new ride.

What we found lurking upon the grave of "The Son of Beast" was an amazing piece of steel and engineering. Imagine the perfect coaster storm, everything you could wish for on a ride and then have those dreams manifest in front of you. That is what we found...

First Successful Test Run

Image from Kings Island's Facebook Page
 Good News for Coaster Fans,
Kings Island's newest, record breaking roller coaster, Banshee, has had it's first full and successful test run.

However, the park still isn't releasing many details about the rides testing at the moment. Simply this image and that it has successfully tested. The way it was written perhaps they had some trouble in the beginning getting things online and working properly but we can't confirm this at all.

Either way, it's excellent to see the ride in motion and getting ready for it's big premiere to the public on April 18th.  Remember, we will be present for the media event for Banshee on April 17th. So we'll have all the information, goodies, video and photos to appease you until you get the chance to ride this amazing looking coaster.

Banshee Watch- 2/14

Kings Island has some new images up of their final preparation work to get their newest roller coaster, Banshee, up and running for their April opening. So far the first of Banshee's trains have been placed on the track, we're calling it the "Yellow Train" for lack of a better description. The park is slowly getting ready for initial test runs of the ride. Work is also continuing on the station.

Banshee Watch 2/6

Banshee Watch: February 6

Hello Peoples!!!

Sorry that I fell behind (ok very behind) in posting these myself but family matters come first.  Anywho I'm starting back with an awesome announcement:

The Banshee Ride Cars Have Arrived!!!!!!

The first car for King's Island Banshee coaster arrived yesterday afternoon.  Banshee will operate with three steel and fiberglass trains, each one containing eight cars. Each car seats four riders in a single row for a total of 32 riders per train.  Riders will be held in by flexible over-the-shoulder restraints and interlocking lap belts, these are very similar to those used on other B&M wing coasters; but the neat part is that this is a first for an inverted roller coaster.  Each train will be painted a different color; blue, green and purple, and this looks to be the blue train.

Banshee Watch 2/1

Banshee Watch- 2/1

Kings Island has been leaking news about their new roller coaster Banshee all week. While American Coaster Enthusiasts are having their big  "EastCoaster" even in Allentown, Pennsylvania, the news has been coming out pretty quick.

Image from Kings Island Twitter
On Twitter, Kings Island posted up this image of the station. It's fully up and taking shape quickly. They've also stated all of the electronics for the ride are in place and ready for testing.

The other big news from Kings Island is that they do expect the first train for Banshee to arrive early next week!

Banshee Watch- 1/23
Track is Now Completed!

Some BIG News today from Kings Island.

This morning the final piece of Banshee's track was put into place. Piece 100 was settled in and attached to the world record breaking roller coaster, set to open on April 18th, 2014.

The park posted up on their Facebook Page and Twitter account some excellent shots of the final piece going into place as well as some great video.  Now we're just waiting for the coaster cars to arrive and station construction to finish up.

(The video post from Facebook is a bit slow to load but it's worth it!)

Banshee Watch- 1/21

Banshee Watch- 1/21

Polar Vortex or not, Kings Island refuses to stop.

Today on their Facebook Page we got a nice shot of Station Construction on the new, world record breaking roller coaster, Banshee.  Honestly, this coaster is just looking more amazing with each new photo they post.

We are still waiting on news about the track being completed and about the trains for the coaster arriving. Nothing yet!

...if I squeal any louder about how much I already love this thing without riding it, Kings Island may have to start paying me. I suspect Montu may have a fight on it's hands to keep the title of "Carrie's Favorite Steel Coaster".

Banshee Watch- 1/15 Last Track Arrives

Banshee Watch- 1/15

The Last Pieces of Track Arrive
The last two pieces of the Banshee track have arrived today at Kings Island. Delivered this morning, the final pieces are expected to be in place within the next few weeks. Along the same lines, from Twitter we learn Kings Island is expecting the trains for Banshee to arrive at the park by the end of the month.

Construction is still moving forward on both the station roof and completing the ride. No official word yet when the trains will be placed on the track nor when testing will begin.  However, with a mostly mild winter (low snow totals) I'm going to guess that full electrical work will be in place by March!

Damn, I'm so excited!

Rain and Winter Weather still haven't stopped Kings Island and their construction of the new, world record breaking roller coaster, Banshee.

Today they posted up this great image on their Facebook Page. Construction of the tear-drop shaped outer loop has begun, you can see them lowering the pieces into place.

We keep hoping they'll post up an aerial picture of the current construction, this coaster looks simply massive!

You can see the finished element and where it will head out into the second big loop. Even in the bitter cold and the snow, Kings Island keeps moving.

First Banshee Watch of 2014- 1/1

First Banshee Watch of 2014- 1/1

A new interview of Don Helbig, the Public Relations Manager for Kings Island has given up a few new bits of information about the new coaster, Banshee.

Including a conformation that the building schedule is on track for completion in mid-January, Conformation that a gift-shop and photo area will be included under the raised station for Banshee, On-Ride Photos will be included with Banshee and that the park expects the coasters trains to arrive in February!

Don also goes into lots of details about the 2014 Season at Kings Island, including some possible re-names and even more information about The Bat.

You can read the full interview over on "Don Speaks Live- KI Fansite"

Image from Kings Island's Facebook Page
Kings Island has also been posting up some construction photos of the new ride.  In this image we can see the batwing section of the ride rising into the air.

With the hint that Banshee will likely receive it's trains in February, I'd guess we can expect testing of the ride to begin shortly afterwards.

Things are getting exciting over at Kings Island!

Banshee Watch- December 13

Another Update to Banshee Watch for December 13th, 2013

Even in the Winter Months while most of the park lies dormant in the snow, waiting for it's springtime crowds to return, construction on the new Banshee Roller Coaster hasn't stopped!

While much of the site may be covered in snow, work keeps moving as you can see from the photo to the right which was posted on Kings Islands Facebook Page.  Work still continues on the rides heavily themed station area, rumor has it they expect to have much of the construction finished and ride testing to begin sometime between February and March of 2014.

Banshee Watch- December 6th

Time for a Banshee Watch Update!

Image from Kings Island's Facebook Page
Well as we all know, Kings Island has been working hard at providing us with some new coaster excellence for the 2014 season.  Today on their Facebook Page they posted up this splendid photo of Banshee in the show!

It seems most of the work over the last month has been on finishing up the already installed elements as well as station work for the ride.  Kings Island has been posting random updates about the ride on Facebook and Instagram to keep fans in the loop of their construction progress.

Image from Kings Island's Facebook Page
Station construction has been keeping the park busy since November.  It may not look like much now but it promises to be an excellent and much needed addition to the park after the loss of the 'Son of Beast' Coaster.

Media Day and Opening Day just can't come fast enough for this record breaking coaster!

Banshee Watch - October 30

HAPPY HALLOWEEN PEOPLES!!!

Okay so I'm a day early but no big deal right? Especially since this is my favorite holiday and I've got a Halloween treat just for yinz (yes, I'm from Pittsburgh and yes I use Pittsburghese just deal with it).

Wait for it.........................................................THE LOOP IS COMPLETE!!!  King's Island Facebook has posted the picture of the complete loop which encircles the lift hill and it looks so amazing.

Photo: The loop interacting with the lift hill was topped off this morning on the new Banshee roller coaster.

I have an unrealistic hope that a car will be going up the hill as one passes overhead but that would put two cars too close together and we all know that would be a bad idea so my dream shall just remain a dream. (I feel like I should sing "I Dreamed a Dream, but we'd all go deaf).

I also found this gem hidden among the pictures and I honestly couldn't remember if I posted it or not but either way do we really care? Nope, we just want more photos.

I can not believe the scale of this ride and I love how it fills the whole area.  Imagine what it'll be like in a couple of years once all the trees and nature grow back in.

I am ending my update here today and I wish everyone a safe, scary, spooky and wondrous HAPPY HALLOWEEN.  Remember: Jack the Pumpkin King is watching you.

Banshee Watch - October 26

Hey Everyone!!!!

This is going to be a mini update since I'm trying to write on my phone so please forgive any mistakes. :)

This photo was posted by KI's Facebook page today and besides the beautiful sunset behind the ride construction this bit looks amazingly wonderful.

Since I'm on my phone I can't really tell where this portion is located.

I'll be sure to keep everyone up to date as I find more pictures and hopefully I won't be on my phone next time

Hugs to all!!!!
