Hershey Park- New Dark Ride for 2015?

Hershey Park Building a Dark Ride for 2015?!

Something fishy is going on at Hershey Park and it involves blueprints!

Spotted in the area of the park known as Midway America, where folks pointing at some of the kiddie-land rides and tents. The rumor mill has gone bonks since the images where posted by a user of All-American Thrills.

Word on the ground right now is that this could be a large building, which may house either a dark ride or possibly some form of an indoor coaster. Which would mean removing and relocating several rides including the parks Music Express and Whip.

On the parks Facebook page, they are also running a new teaser campaign for this new 2015 attraction. They will be posting up a new clue every Tuesday until August 12th.

Now, I'm going to go out on a limb here and take a guess. From the teaser poster and the knowledge this is going to be a large, indoor attraction.. I'm going to bet we're looking at a shooter style dark-ride. Think about it, Neon Colors. Indoors and Darkride rumors all put together? Seems to scream 'indoor, shooter style dark ride' to me!

Never fear, we'll keep on top of the rumors and let you know what's coming!

Roadside America- Weeki Wachee Returns Clam Shelll Roof

Weeki Wachee Returns to 'Clam Sell' Roof.

Time for some news of a classic nostalgia. The Mermaid Theater of Weeki Wachee Springs in Central Florida is undergoing a massive renovation this summer.

While doing work for a new roof, they discovered the old 'Clam Shell' roof as still intact under the wooden shingles. The state parks division has decided to re-furbish the old roof, rather then just replace the singles, to give the theater it's original look- That of a giant white clam.  This not only is more fitting for the theater but brings back the classic nostalgia of the Florida Roadside Attraction.

We're always glad to see Weeki Wachee getting publicity, more so when it's for the better of a classic attraction! You Go, Mermaids! We'll be down to check this out possibly later this fall!

*Updated* Six Flags Magic Mountain- More Info about "Ninja" Coaster Accident

*Updated* Six Flags Magic Mountain- More Information about "Ninja" Coaster Accident.

Well, I've managed to dig up some more information about yesterdays 'Ninja" roller coaster derailment which happened at Six Flags Magic Mountain.

I try to tell people the power of the internet but often they discount it. Well, the Reddit community was on top of this accident due to an unfortunate problem- one users sister was on the ride.  Thankfully she wasn't injured but doesn't wish to speak about the accident at this time. OhkayThxBi also gave me permission to use the photos which where posted up to the forum which give us a much better idea of what really happened.

From this photo, taken by his sister while on the ride. You can clearly see the front car is nearly completely off the tracks. It appears to be hanging from the back wheel set, which is keeping it attached to the track. You can also see the rest of the cars are left at an odd angle.

This image also showed up but I haven't been able to re-trace it back but it shows that a massive tree fell onto track. While Six Flags and the News Stations are attempting to play this off as "a tree branch or tree limb" we can clearly see, that is NOT the case.

It's a tree, a complete tree which fell onto the empty track. Which when the ride was dispatched, struck the tree and caused the derailment. This goes a long way to show just how much negligence is really found at Magic Mountain, which we saw with our own eyes back in March. The park was not well kept, especially on the mountian which houses both the Ninja Roller Coaster and Superman: Great Escape.

The mountain was highly overgrown, with tree limb nearly touching the track of Nina to begin with.. and this was back in March. It was fairly clear that Horticulture isn't high on their priority list, this accident which likely could have been avoided, shouldn't have happened. Add into this completely disinterred ride operations employees and your looking at a disaster.  Honestly, we saw ride operators ignoring their jobs and the park rules. People with camera's and cell phones on the rides (not GoPro Units, Hand-held cameras and call phones) being allowed to ride. Ride Operators ignoring questions, chatting with each other and ignoring riders, eating and talking on their own cell phones.

Although due to this accident, I'm concerned for the fate of Ninja. Six Flags doesn't have a great track record and Suspended-Swinging coasters are 'out of fashion'. Their also hard to maintain and keep in running order, with one train likely totaled the fate of the ride could be grim.

I also wouldn't be surprised if many other parks suddenly scramble today to trim back trees and brushes around roller coasters.

As always, more information when we find out about it..

Six Flags Magic Mountain- "Ninja" Roller Coaster Hit By Tree, Derails.

Honestly, I hate writing this damn 'shock' headlines and I hate it more when their the truth. Double this level of hate when it's one of the few rides at Magic Mountain I enjoyed. Sadly, tonight that's exactly the type of news I'm having to report.

Carowinds Park- New Coaster Blueprints, Fury 325?!

Carowinds Park- New Coaster, Fury 325?!

 Hello, New Hotness!

Well folks, it may be very late (or early depending on how you look at things) but Screamscape leaked something amazing and we're here to report it!

It seems the rumors of a new coaster coming to Carowinds will be true. While we're still not sure who is building this, it's massive. With a possible name of "Fury 325" being trademarked by Cedar Fair, we could easily be looking at a Giga/Hyper coaster with a huge lift hill and shockingly tall drop.

Image from Screamscape
The best guesses right now seem to be that the drop will be close to or slightly over 300 feet and will likely the be the parks 2015 project.  The picture to the right is also another guess of where this new monster could fit into the park.

Honestly, this is so new we're all going to be guessing in the dark for a while now (or until someone better at reading blue-print then I am looks at it). This could match or even out-size Leviathan at Canada's Wonderland. This also looks very, very similar to the general layout of Leviathan (with slightly different elements, naturally).  Not to worry, we're now going to be watching Carowinds closely.

More news when we can find it!
