Thought we were done with the news out of Carowind's newest, and record breaking, coaster, Fury 325? Well, think again!
Earlier today, Carowinds announced the details for the Season Passholder exclusive Fury 325 preview event. This one is definitely not to be missed as they've got a ton planned for Friday, March 27th. So, if you're looking to be amongst the first to ride the monster that is Fury 325, this is your chance to get in on things before most people get the chance. If you're looking to be one of the very first, check out the info about the First Rider Auction that we reported on just the other day too!
So, just what's all included in this special event? We got ya covered with the details.
Starting at 5pm and lasting until 10pm, on March 27th, this exclusive event will feature live DJs, prize giveaways and more throughout the evening. If that wasn't enough, the entire park will be open for everyone's enjoyment, including the all new 300ft tall Slingshot tower.
All in all, it sounds like a great event and I know that we here at ISI can't wait to get down to Carowinds to check out Fury 325 and the rest of the park in just a few weeks. To get all the details, or to pick up a season pass so you can get in on the action, head on over to the official Carowinds website for all that and more!

Carowinds: Fury 325 Update [Sept. 12]
Hello peoples!!!
Track for Fury325 had arrived at Carowinds!! I have to say that while the symbol (the hornet thing) is not high on my favorites list the color of the track is pretty.
So the world's tallest, fastest giga coaster will
stand 325 feet tall with a drop at an 81-degree angle.
Also, going on at Carowinds is that they opened their new toll plazas! Now, I've never been to Carowinds (although we hope to get there next year for the opening!!) but I have to say that the new toll plaza looks all sorts of shiny.
So that's the new stuff out of Carowinds for right now. Once I've got more information and/or photos I'll make sure yinz see them :)Also, going on at Carowinds is that they opened their new toll plazas! Carowinds New Coaster Update: July 25
Hello Peoples!!!
I've got another update on the new goings-on at Carowinds. I've got photos and a neat video for yinz to enjoy. So, just to get it out of the way, photos came from Screamscape and the video from YouTube.
It's looking like Centurion is 90% sure to be the new coaster's name. So for those who don't know a centurion was a professional officer of the Roman army after the Marian reforms of 107 B.C. Most centurions commanded 80 men but senior centurions commanded cohorts, or took senior staff roles in their legion. Centurions were also found in the Roman navy.
So history lesson over and onto the photos:

Carowinds new coaster update: July 17th
Hello peoples,
So back on July 7 the blueprints were leaked regarding the new coaster to be built at Carowinds Amusement Park.
Now, Carowinds has released some new photos of two banners announcing the coaster inside the park.
Now, I hope that all you smart people out there can read Roman Numerals but if not the date on the banner is 8.21.2014. I'm going to guess that is this the date of the official announcement from the park of the coaster and it's name.
We did say that Cedar Fair trademarked the possible name Fury 325, and since I love Roman mythology, the only thing I can come up with in regards to the name is the Furies, the goddesses of vengeance. They've also trademarked Centurian as well.
Of course, I'm going out on my own happy limb with that one but I'd love to be right.
Once I have more information to share I'll pass it on so until then have a wonderful day.

Carowinds Park- New Coaster Blueprints, Fury 325?!
![]() |
Image from Screamscape |
Hello, New Hotness!
Well folks, it may be very late (or early depending on how you look at things) but Screamscape leaked something amazing and we're here to report it!
It seems the rumors of a new coaster coming to Carowinds will be true. While we're still not sure who is building this, it's massive. With a possible name of "Fury 325" being trademarked by Cedar Fair, we could easily be looking at a Giga/Hyper coaster with a huge lift hill and shockingly tall drop.

Honestly, this is so new we're all going to be guessing in the dark for a while now (or until someone better at reading blue-print then I am looks at it). This could match or even out-size Leviathan at Canada's Wonderland. This also looks very, very similar to the general layout of Leviathan (with slightly different elements, naturally). Not to worry, we're now going to be watching Carowinds closely.
More news when we can find it!

Carowinds will recieve a New Coaster with their Expansion
Recently we talked about the 3 year, $50 Million Dollar expansion that is going into Carowinds Park.
Well it seems like the local news has also been talking about the planned expansion of the Cedar Fair park, to the point we now know that Carowinds will receive a roller coaster with some of this expansion money. Screamscape reported that the park will also get nearly another million from the county of Mecklenburg in tax rebates for upgrading the park and bringing in new jobs.
The really interesting part of this is that a closed session transcript showed up online from the Charlotte Observer, which reports that nearly $30 million will be spent on a 'New Roller Coaster that is 70 feet taller then Intimidator". This means Carowinds will receive not only a new roller coaster but one that is over 300 feet tall! However, there is no timeline or year for when this new coaster could open. Just sometime in the next three years.
Also in that same article is a list of what Cedar Fair plans to spend their investment one, aside from one jumbo-size roller coaster. $2.5 Million will go to a new 'water slide' of some form, $7 Million will go to building the rumored new 'food' complex and finally $4 Million will be spent between ticket booth and parking lot improvements.
