Canada's Wonderland- A General Park Update.
Well we all know that Wonder Mountain's Guardian is under construction but what else is going on around the park?
According to Screamscape, quite a bit of actively is going on around the park.
-The Wild Boar's "pink" train is getting repainted back to it's original "blue" color.
-Thunder Run is also being painted back to a shade of "blue".
-Swing of the Century is getting a big upgrade with 2,800 LED lights, a big job!
-All of the coaster trains for Backlot Stunt Coaster are being repainted, they will remain the original colors but will remain their original colors of white, red and blue.
Overall, this is quite a bit of activity on top new ride construction, regular maintenance and getting the park ready for their opening day! It's always great to see parks doing basic care and Canada's Wonderland is one park that is excellent at this. It shows when you walk in the gate!

Six Flags Magic Mountain- X2 Down Through 2013
Well Folks, It appears Six Flags Magic Mountain and S&S Power are having issues repairing the the X2 Roller Coaster.
Six Flags Magic Mountain has again delayed the re-opening of X2, it will be closed through the busy Christmas Break and Holiday Season of 2013. The ride has been down since September and went through it's yearly maintenance where rumor has it they encountered massive problems with the rides lift hill chain, causing an extended closure.
According to Screamscape, a rumored inside source has said the ride may not re-open again until sometime in March of 2014.

Six Flags Magian Mountain- X2 Still Down
X2 is Still Down...
It appears X2 is still having issues. Screamscape reports the ride is still down from earlier in the season. It was believed the ride would open for Thanksgiving and the following Holiday rush at the park. However, as of right now the ride is still down and did not open at all over the weekend.
According to the Six Flags Magic Mountain website, pictured above, X2 is still down "temporarily" for maintenance. The ride went down (to my knowledge) in the beginning of September of this year, it has not reopened since.
Rumors from various forums online report it's a rather large problem, requiring manufacturer help. Many seem to believe this is all linked to the lift chain replacement. Others are now suspecting the ride may not open again until January at the earliest. Again, these are rumors from around the internet and have no been confirmed by the park.
More News or Rumors as they come to light- Stay Tuned!

Good and Bad News for Disneyland Paris
Both Good and Bad News from Disneyland Paris this week.
The Bad:
The park has seen a decline of over 1 million people and declining hotel bookings in the 2013 fiscal year. This goes in hand with the economic problems in France as well as Southern Europe. However, this may not impact the parks badly as with this decline they have seen higher spending and longer stays from their guests.
The Good:
In 2014 the newest addition to the park, Ratatouille will open. This is expected to drive up attendance for at least a year or two. In addition to this Disney has stated they will be spending $600 million in both maintenance and development. This come afters a large public outcry about the overall shabby state of the parks, so while many disagreed with the "Save Disneyland Paris" movement it seems to have done some good!

Six Flags Magic Mountain- X2 is Down
![]() |
Image from jasoninhollywood.blogspot.com |
Today we've learned the ground-breaking 4th Dimension Coaster, X2 located at Six Flags Magic Mountain will be down for an unknown length of time.
For the last week Screamscape has reported the coaster to be down. Six Flags Magic Mountain has reported that the lift hill chain is being replaced and that they have no timeline for when repairs will be completed although they have stated the ride will not be open during their 'Fright Fest' event this season. It may not reopen again until possibly the winter holidays.
This is yet another ride of Six Flags which has gone through big problems this season, the most notable being El Toro at Six Flags Great Adventure which complete blew out it's lift hill motor earlier this season causing it to be down for an extended period of time. Nor is Six Flags alone in having broken attractions, this season hasn't been kind to the roller coasters of the US. Cedar Fair has also had massive problems with rides including Intimidator 305 at Kings Dominion.
What is causing these problems? We're not sure. Could it be a lack of maintenance or perhaps just the huge stresses these rides are under? The parks aren't reporting that much so we're left to speculation and curiosity. Will 2015 see another rash of broken attractions?

Park Review- Kennywood Park
Park Review- Kennywood Park
Day: Saturday
Date: August 17th, 2013
Weather: Warm
Overall Raiting: Okay
Coaster Rating: Excellent
Flat Ride Rating: Okay
Opinion: Visit if nearby
Staff: Carrie, Kitsune and Alex
We arrived at Kennywood around 10am, surprised to see just how busy the park was already even before opening. The front gate area was swarming with groups, most of them appeared to be either bands or dance teams with some folks toting coolers as well. The park didn't open till 10:30am. Two quickly noticeable things is that Guest Services at Kennywood isn't open before the park opens, which I find a little bit odd. The second is the fact they don't want anyone near the turnstiles before the park opens, leading to rather rude "Kennywood Cops" yelling at several dozen guests. You'd think they could just hang ropes or something, rather then resorting to rude voiced yelling.
