DreamVision Announces Plans for DreamScape Texas, a Multi-Billion Dollar, 5,000 Acre Theme Park in Forth Worth

We've all heard this one before. Some company moves to some place and promises the world with a massive theme park. People are excited, an opening date announced and all manner of other things go on. Most, if not all, never happened or failed to meet expectations.

So, will history repeat itself? That's hard to say but given some of the names attached to this, it's kind of hard to discount it entirely. Also, given some of the names involved, it's just as easy to.

Just what is being planned? Well, if it's to be believed, a $3.5mil dollar theme park is in the works for the Forth Worth, TX area that should open in the year 2020. The folks behind this are boasting quite a bit about it's promise, but I'm going to err on the side of caution and say that not everything below is likely to happen, if the entire thing does at all.

 Why? We'll get to that, but for now here's all the details of this supposed new mega theme park coming to Texas!

The proposed park, DreamScape Texas, would be close to 5,000 acres in size and boast some really unique and never before seen elements in a US based theme park. Things like a massive indoor ski resort for bobsledding, skiing and snowboarding as well as many others. So, here's some of the highlights, DreamScape Texas would include a number of lands within the park; Dreamscape Tinsel Town, Nadia's Storybook Land, DreamScape Metropolis and a Wild West themed area, all surrounding the DreamScame Mountain...the park and company's logo.

According to those at the press conference, a ton of preliminary work has gone on and they even have a site in mind somewhere in the area of Fort Worth. How that shakes out is anyone's guess. Also, as I mentioned above, they have quite the roster of folks on board for this one. Several previous Disney execs and some folks that specialize in other areas, like indoor ski resorts. The entire project will include not only the theme park but hotels, golf courses and of course a movie studio as well.

Certainly looks impressive from that park map there and definitely a lot here to talk about. So, we'll do this section by section and see what comes of it all before looking at the "iffy" bits of this whole thing. First stop? Dreamscape Metropolis.

SeaWorld San Antonio Getting More Improvements as Part of Blue World Project

While SeaWorld was announcing their Blue World project earlier today, they also included some other major upgrades coming to SeaWorld San Antonio specifically. (Check out our full coverage of the announcement here.)

This is definitely some interesting news and it seems that the updates will be bringing the Texas park up to the level of SeaWorld Orlando and SeaWorld San Diego. That said, it definitely feels like more influence is coming from Florida on this one.

So, what can guests expect to see in the future in San Antonio? Not only will the park be getting the massive upgrade to their Orca enclosures and habitats but there's quite a few other changes and modifications coming to the park as well.

An all new Sea lion and Otter show along with a new sea lion habitat is coming as well as a new coastal dolphin habitat and even an all new restaurant will be included in the park's expansion and upgrade plans.

The only information we have so far is the concept art, to the left, that shows what the new sea lion habitat will look like. There's no word on the new show or dolphin habitat as of yet. Some are saying the show could be a version of Clyde & Seamore Take Pirate Island, however.

As for the dolphin habitat? Both +Carrie H.C. and myself feel that it likely will be similar to the one in Orlando. It would make the most sense and definitely fits the bill of a "coastal habitat", so it's probably a safe bet there. The restaurant is a complete mystery for us, we're not sure if it could be an overhaul to something existing or an entirely new dining experience.

So, while the big news is the Orca habitats getting their major overhaul over the course of the next few years, SeaWorld San Antonio is shaking things up in other areas as well. So stay tuned as more information about all of these projects comes out!

Could a B&M Flying Coaster be Coming to Six Flags Fiesta Texas?

More clues have been coming out of Six Flags Fiesta Texas about their 2015 project in the past week or so. We now have confirmation that Motorama will be closing down for good soon too and we're pretty sure that Hustler is going as well.

Recently the messages at the phone numbers for Rockville Reality have changed a little bit and it's definitely sounding like something big is on the way. Additionally, new heights have been mentioned by the park in regards to their huge 2015 balloon that's been seen in the park the past few weeks.

From the sounds of things, it looks like a flying coaster is coming. So, let's get down to unraveling a few things here and seeing just where the clues lead us to, shall we? First up is the new message from Rockville Reality. In it we find the opening has changed to include a mention of "flipping", so something that loops is definitely coming at least.

Now, also in the message is the something that was pointed out by one of our readers. The words "Boring" and "Mundane" have been somewhat emphasized. Normally this wouldn't mean much of anything but considering they start with initials of Bolliger & Mabillard, it's a little more significant here.

So, where do we get the flying? Well this tweet sent out by the park mentions it in all caps, so that's gotta have something to do with things. So far we've had "dropping and diving" and "OUT OF CONTROL" and now "FLYING".

Now we've also got a new height to deal with as well. The first was 92.5ft and now this one is 106ft. I would imagine that we're seeing heights of different elements for the new ride. If it is a B&M flying coaster, it could be largest Six Flags has built yet. That of course depends on if the 106ft height is for the lift hill and not something else. Granted, if any element is 106ft and it's not the lift hill, it still would be the largest since it'd need a very strong start...unless of course they go crazy and try a launched flying coaster.

More Clues about Six Flags Fiesta Texas' 2015 Plans

Six Flags Fiesta Texas is definitely up to something and recent observations, along with the park's own postings, have only confirmed such. There's also some rumors as to just where this new ride might be going in as well.

Now, I'm not nearly as familiar with the Texas Six Flags parks, so bare with me a little on this one. If there's any info you can give, please let us know in the comments!

So with that said, let's take a look at the newest clues. The first comes in the form of a tweet sent out the park saying that Rockville Reality was having a little big of a snake problem...

Now, the park already has Iron Rattler so the snake bit fits there. However, diving a little more and calling the number in the picture that accompanied that tweet revealed a little more information. As it would turn out, Rockville is getting set for a "renovation and renewel project" and hints at a "thrilling challenge" as well as "making history". 

Not much to go on, but definitely hinting at a new attraction coming to the section of the park. So far it seems like it'll be a thrill ride at least, would imagine that it's going to be a coaster of some kind. However, there are many flat rides that reach the earlier mentioned height of 92.5ft at as well.

It's from here that things get a little more interesting. In another clue, they seem to be hinting at something that dips and dives, also why I believe this is going to be a coaster.

Six Flags Fiesta Texas Teases 2015 Project with Huge Balloon!

Not to be left out of the insane 2015 building spree that's going on, Six Flags Fiesta Texas has hinted at their next project as well.

Last night they posted a picture on Twitter showing off a huge balloon floating high above the park with 2015 written on the side of it. The interesting thing about it is that they mentioned the height of the balloon, 92.5'. Seems too short for a coaster, though some are only that height, but could be something entirely different as well.

Here's the Tweet that was sent out;

Seems like a peculiarly accurate statement to make, so anything other than height I'd be suspect on. Some are thinking maybe drop angle if it were a coaster, but there's really no telling what this could be right now. We'll just have to wait and see what other clues come out of the park in the coming weeks and months and hope that we get an answer sooner rather than later!

Construction Scheduled for Grand Texas Theme Park Unveiled

There hasn't been much news since the initial announcement on this one, but it seems as if things are still moving forward with the Grand Texas theme park and entertainment complex just north of Houston, Texas.

Originally it had been thought that the park would be open in 2015, but it would seem that they're taking a slightly different approach to just how they're phasing in each of the elements that will make up the entire property.

The first stage of construction will start this coming August and consist of the massive indoor sports complex and should be open sometime around March in 2015. Additionally, this coming September will be mark the start of construction on the Big Rivers Waterpark with an opening slated for June 2015.

At some point construction on the 71 acre theme park portion of the project will begin with Phase One and according to their master plan it should be open sometime in 2016.

Monty Galland, CEO of the Grand Texas Sports and Entertainment District said, “With AstroWorld, one of the biggest things is not the closing, it was very successful, but AstroWorld’s growth potential was stunted by being boxed in. That’s why we developed [Grand Texas] with the ability to continue to grow for 30 years.”


The fact that they have room to expand the park upwards of 150acres or more is also a very big plus in their favor and looks like they'll be able to keep things going for quite a long time. When it's all said and done, the theme park will boast five roller coasters, flat rides, entertainment facilities for live music and even educational areas to teach people about the state of Texas itself.

With this news, it seems like the park is definitely moving forward and I guess we'll just have to wait and see for what they'll be offering up the folks of the Houston area and beyond as more information is released!

Grand Texas Theme Park- Opening Date Announced

 Grand Texas Theme Park has an Opening Date!


 It's Official, the Grand Texas Theme Park which has been dubbed by some as "The New Astroworld" will beginning opening in Summer of 2015.

 The Theme Park is set to open first but no announcements have been made yet as to which parts of the park will be open or if it will be opened in phases. However, an interesting rumor from another blog, The Montgomery County Police Reporter, has posted that the park plans to have one of the "Top 10 largest Wooden Roller Coasters in the Nation". As of this moment I can't find any details of the ride nor who may be building this mystery coaster.

 The same blog has posted that soil tests are fully underway right now and the heavy equipment will begin to arrive in January of 2014, giving the park a very short timeline to work with- only a year and a half.  They also have a timeline of projected opening dates for the many projects which will be engulfed by the 630 acre site.

Grand Texas Theme Park- Opening in Summer 2015

 Ever since Six Flags AstroWorld closed in Houston, Texas the area has been without an amusement park. That won't last much longer with the new and highly anticipated Grand Texas Theme Park.

 Officials of the proposed park have set an opening date of summer 2015 but this won't be your normal amusement park. This park is going the full 'theme park' route and without Six Flags in the mixture, it's likely to be a success.  Developer Monty Galland and CEO Chuck Hendrix have stated they want a family friendly complete district which you can spend more then a single day enjoying.

 The park will open on 150 acres with room for future expansion. The theme park its-self will draw from local Texas history for it's seven themed lands. Officials state some of the theme will be-  The Grand Boardwalk aims to be themed as turn-of-the-century fair. Yet the Pecos Territory will contain most of larger thrill rides. Main Street will give a more romantic look at Texas' past, going more for fun over historical accuracy. Rides are obviously going to be a massive part of this new proposed park but little information exists about them so far.

 They will also have their own waterpark called "Big River Water Park" which will be themed as a "quaint 1800's fishing village" and said to be located on 40 acres of land.  Currently no information is known about what attractions the waterpark will contain or when it's projected opening date may be.

 On the rest of the 480 acres, the park will build additional goodies for guests and locals alike. It will have a massive retail area, many restaurants, two hotels as well as an RV park. As for entertainment the park plans for a possible  3 different sports venues, not much detail on that right now though. There is also no current time-line on these additional areas, just the opening date range of the theme park.

Mr. Hendrix was the final CEO of Six Flags AstroWorld and the man most people blame for it's demise and destruction.  With this new proposed park, he states he wants to leave a different legacy to the people of Houston.

Six Flags Over Texas to Reopen 'New Texas Giant' this Weekend

 Six Flags Over Texas as released a statement which says that they will be re-opening the roller coaster 'New Texas Giant' this weekend.  The ride has been down since the accident which killed 52 year old Rosa Esparza on July 19th, 2013.

 The park states they've finished their investigation of the ride with assistance from the train manufacturer, as well as internal and external engineering experts and have deemed the ride free of any mechanical failure. It has also passed with the Texas Board of Insurance (who seems to handle these kinds of problems) and is clear to re-open to the public. They have re-designed the padded lap restraints and have added in a seat belt for safety measures, the park is also providing a new 'test seat' for the roller coaster so riders can have a better idea of restraint fit. The company also states that riders with "unique body shapes and sizes" may not fit into the restraint and will be unable to ride.

 The family of Rosa Esparza has filed suit against Six Flags Over Texas to the tune of at least $1,000,000 in damages. Six Flags has no further comment about the attraction or the suit against them. 

 Now, one a personal level I feel very sorry for Ms. Esparza's family and extend them my sympathies but I fully believe this is a two way street with blame going to both parties involved. Ms. Esparza should have gotten off that ride the moment she felt uncomfortable and Six Flags Over Texas should not have allowed her on the ride.

 Before you chew my head off you have to remember something important, amusement parks and theme parks aren't out to kill people. They want their rides to be as safe as possible not only as a legal matter but as a business matter. These parks are, in the end, a big and expensive business to run. People won't buy tickets to a park with a bad safety record in this modern day and no ticket sales means no park. The bottom line is that these parks have to be safe to survive.

 The odds of any random person being injured by a ride are slim to none, accidents are very rare and that's a good thing.  Most of you won't ever even experience a breakdown where your evacuated from a ride much less an accident. Your safer on these roller coasters then you are in your car traveling to the park.
