Breaking News- Disney to Re-theme Splash Mountain

Breaking News: Disney announces that Splash Mountain will be re-themed to "Princess and a Frog".

With the current movements in the world and changes coming to be more sensitive to minorities, Disney has announced that Splash Mountain will undergo a re-theme.

Currently, Splash Mountain is themed upon the controversial film "Song of the South" which is considered 'banned' by the Disney Vault. It has not been seen or released since 2000. The ride is hugely popular but it's unlikely many have seen the movie which is was based upon.

On the matter, the below is what Disney has to state about the matter:

Today, Disney announced that in both the US parks, Splash Mountain will be transformed with the hit movie "Princess and the Frog".  Disney has stated this new ride will tell a story, picking up where the movie left off. We'll be following Tiana and Louis on musical adventure as they prepare for their first Mardi Gras performance.

Currently there are no additional details or information regarding the new changes coming to the ride.

Star Wars Galaxy's Edge- What we know.. and what we guess.

Star Wars Galaxy's Edge: What we know.. and what we guess!

This is pretty much the news I've wanted my entire life, a land completely devoted to Star Wars. It's like my childhood dream came true, so while I haven't had time to sit down and really put together a comprehensive post about it.. I have been following the news rather closely. So now it's time to sit down and really put together a list of things- What we know and what we're guessing on. Which is still a LOT of speculation sprinkled in with what Disney has released so far.

Planet Batuu and Black Spire Outpost.

This is the 'setting' which Galaxy's Edge will be based around. According to Disney, it will be a rouge trader port on the edge of the galactic frontier. Bordering the Outer Rim and Wild Space. It's the last stop full of creature and notorious characters.
The outpost its-self is settled around a petrified forest, in a river valley which is where the outpost is located.  It seems, Disney is going with a familiar theme from the heart of Star Wars here. That of Mos Eisley Spaceport on Tatooine, just set in a new location.

What about the Star Wars Timeline?

With the Star Wars Timeline is a bit of an uproar due to the Disney takeover from Lucasfilm and many things being cut from the previously accepted 'canonverse' it's certian that the setting for this expansion is sometime during the newest movies. Making it on par with the First Order being in power, rather than the setting being from a previous portion of the Star Wars universe. By doing this, Disney can update easily and toss out more movie tie-in's for whatever happens past the current saga (meaning movies 7, 8 and 9).

Opening Date
'Fall of 2019'

However, knowing Disney- We can make some educated guesses!
'Fall of 2019' generally means September but allows them the option to push the time back as late as needed in case of delays. Although if we follow how Disney opened their last few major expansions, we can expect to see a soft-open as early as late August and an official 'Grand Opening' sometime in November or December. That does leave the problem of a possible 'staggered opening' which means while construction is done, the area is 'open' some aspects may not yet be operational.
The simple fact is this: We don't know... yet.

What about the rides?!
Galaxy's Edge will feature two attractions (or 'rides' if you prefer). The one we know the most about is the attraction featuring the Millennium Falcon. The working title for the attraction is 'Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run'  which Disney has promised guests the controls of the Falcon for an action-packed 'secret mission' and a battle between the First Order and the Resistance.  The second attraction is Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance, which will be a dark ride on a trackless ride system. This will include some form of a rescue and another portion which will involve the landing bay of a Star Destroyer, beyond this, not much is known.

Smugglers Run

From what can be pieced together, this will be an interactive simulator that will seat six people per cabin. Much like 'Mission: Space' at Epcot, it's almost certain that each person will be in control of some aspect of the Falcon which will interact with the simulation. Likely this will have no real effect on your 'mission' if it's anything like 'Mission: Space' since the effects will work regardless of pushing buttons or not, However, Disney has promised an interactive incentive to play along with the controls of your very own Falcon. Supposedly how well you do during the ride will give you a 'reputation' which will follow your around your visit to Galaxy's Edge and Black Spire Outpost.
As for time, this is the more confusing angle of things. If you run the numbers multiple times (which we did) in order to hit the magic number of 1080 we have a breakdown of how the ride with operate. 6 riders per car, with 12 total ride vehicles with a 4 minutes ride.. you have your numbers.

(This still leaves the question of 'How are you going to put 12 ride cars with room to maneuver into that building' but we'll touch on that in another post!)

Rise of the Resistance

This second attraction coming to Galaxy's Edge is more along the lines of traditional Disney. This is a classic style dark-ride which features a trackless ride system, very similar to the new Ratatouille attraction going into Epcot (Also similar to Mystic Manor in Tokyo Disneyland, SpiderMan and Transformers at Universal Orlando).
While few details are still known about what ride elements or features will be included, speculation includes that it will be a single floor attraction while other groups believe that it will incorporate 3D elements as well as special effects.  We have rough details that a First Order fleet will be involved with a battle between the Resistance and the First Order with most of the show taking place in the likely setting of a Star Destroyer.

Oga's Cantina

Oga's Cantina is easily a huge draw, because who didn't want to visit the cantina scene in Episode 4? No one. The answer is NO ONE.

So Disney is providing our very own chance to visit a shady place to make deals, hosted by Oga Garra. A full-blown, (but family friendly) bar will allow both adults and kids to 'belly up' and pick a drink of their choice from a themed menu. It also promises to have a 'colorful cast of characters' which leaves you wondering if Disney plans to plant in actors for local 'color'.  Along with this, fans of the original Star Tours will be thrilled (I am) to see that entertainment is provided by RX-24 (Rex). Who they promise will provide both chatter and tunes to waiting customers.

Shopping
...because who isn't going to spend a fortune?
While Disney hasn't announced a set name for the shopping haven which will inundate the area, it's not hard to guess multiple 'shops' will be present and themed for the area. Rumors run the gauntlet of 'haggling traders in street-lined stalls' to a 'Star Wars Emporium'.  Frankly, I think we'll see a more typical pattern for Disney where exit lines will empty into stores as well as more 'themed' locations for Black Spire Outpost.

Restaurants
Even people on the edge of Wild Space need to eat!
So this is bound to happen. While nothing has been said from official channels, the rumor mill is always ripe with guesses. Some of them are as wild as a full sit-down, reservations only dining option to the other corner who states 'it won't have anyplace to eat'.  Personally,  I expect to see something very similar with what Disney did with Cars Lands in California. If we use that model, we'll see one 'counter service' restaurant with themed (but familiar) food choices, much like Flo's V-8 Cafe. For quick service and snacks, likely several other spots where one can grab something for 'on the go' food options.

Star Wars Land Announced for Disneyland and Disney World Hollywood Studios!

Star Wars logo
Yep, you read that headline right. Just a short while ago, at Disney's annual D23 Expo, the announcement of the long anticipated Star Wars Land was finally made. It was never a matter of "if", but always when with this one.

Now, though? We have the details go along with it and just what guests will be able to expect from this massive new project that will be going on at not just Disneyland but also Disney World.

Since this is a breaking story, we don't have all the details yet, but here's what we do know!

So, just what can we expect? Well, here's the breakdown on things. Both parks will be a massive 14 acres in size. If that doesn't sound big, just think of the fact that this will be taking up most of the space in the existing Disney Hollywood Studios at Disney World for starters.

Concept Art of the Millenium Falcon
The Millennium Falcon on Landing Pad

“We are creating a jaw-dropping new world that represents our largest single themed land expansion ever," Iger said. "These new lands at Disneyland and Walt Disney World will transport guests to a whole new Star Wars planet, including an epic Star Wars adventure that puts you in the middle of a climactic battle between the First Order and the Resistance.”

There's at least two new rides coming along with this, and one of them, you'll be able to pilot the Millennium Falcon in one of two new signature attractions coming to each land. The other attraction will put guests right in the middle of a climactic battle. I think the last pic is possibly from that? Hard to say.

Now, for a few more concept pieces to show off just what the future looks like in a park not so far far away.

The Hatbox Ghost to Rematerialize at Disneyland's Haunted Mansion!

Original Hatbox Ghost Animatronic
Yep, that's right, one of the most iconic characters within Disneyland's The Haunted Mansion will be coming back for a hopefully longer stay than his first stint. It's been long rumored that this very mysterious member of the 999 happy haunts would return, but now it's official.

The Hatbox Ghost is returning to the ride, this May!

Let's just let that sink in for a few there. Okay, we good? How about now? Alright, moving forward then! Some of you may be wondering why this is such a big deal, it's just another in the cast of hundreds within the confines of the Haunted Mansion ride and that's true.

However, the Hatbox Ghost was originally a failure. To put it simply, the effect just didn't work and after months of tinkering, they finally removed him from the ride.

Now, it's been hinted that he never actually left the ride at all, just somewhere else where you couldn't see him. Certainly possible with all the dark nooks and corners within the ride itself and there is the matter that one of the heads that pop up in the cemetery scene being identical to the legendary Hatbox Ghost's as well. So, maybe...just maybe, he's been there all along.

There's no word on when the official date for his reappearance will be or where he'll be implimented within the ride. It would be fitting if he were to return to the attic that he once occupied, but only time will tell on how Disney decides to do this one. We also don't know if he'll be making an appearance at Disney World in Orlando, FL but one can hope, right? For now, here's a little concept art!

Fire in Disneyland Resort

So I've got some news out of Disneyland in California (for those of you who forget which park is where, lol). Apparently there was a fire on Saturday evening in Fantasyland.  First reports were saying that Small World was on fire, but now it looks like it was a malfunction with a fireworks show, although they are still investigating.

Pulled from The OC Register

The fire began around 9:20 p.m. on a tree near the "It's a Small World" attraction, said Disney spokeswoman Suzi Brown.

The fire was handled by Disney staff, probably the in-park FD, and the Anaheim FD was not needed on site. No one was injured and there was no damage to Small World.

Pulled from YouTube- SoCal Attractions 360 page

The Small World ride reopened later that night with no issues.

We are happy that no one was hurt and the ride was okay.

As always: If you're nice to us than we'll be nice to you. You can find us in the usual places, just go to the "Where to Follow" tab on the home page and follow!!!

Disney's "It's A Small World" 50th Anniversary

Image from Orlando Sentinel
Disney's "It's A Small World" turns 50.

Some love it, some hate it and many just can't get the song out of their heads for days after riding this iconic attraction.

Disney's "It's A Small World" attractions are celebrating the 50th anniversary since their inception at the 1964 Worlds Fair to promote UNICEF.  The classic song (which inspires love and hate in people) was written by the famous Sherman Brothers and within two weeks of it's debut, a world hit happened.

Image from Orlando Sentinel
From the World's Fair the attraction was enlarged, upgraded and built at Disneyland in 1966, Another version was built at Disney World's "Magic Kingdom" park which opened in 1971. Versions of the ride are also found at Disneyland Paris. Tokyo Disneyland and Hong Kong Disneyland. Each park has it's own with slight differences but it's easy to say this this attraction is a must-have Disney Park staple.

To help celebrate the attractions anniversary, Disney has created a website dedicated to the ride where users can upload their own version of "It's a Small World Afterall". Guests can also create their own unique "Small World Figure" and soon you can purchase anniversary items which still support UNICEF projects.

On April 10th, 2014 Guests and Cast Members of the Disney Parks can unite as one and sing along with the song to celebrate the anniversary event.

Love it or Hate it, Small World has impacted both Adults and Children. It's simply a legend and without it, the Disney Parks would be a slightly duller place.

"Rock Your Disney Side" with Disney's 2014 24 Hour Event!

Last year Disney opened up the doors to their parks for a full 24 hours in February, giving guests the chance to party and enjoy the park for complete day. Given how successful it was, it's no surprise that they've decided to bring it back in 2014.

This coming Memorial Day Weekend, you'll be able to enjoy either Disneyland or Disney World's Magic Kingdom from 6am-6am, May 23rd-24th.

Best of all, is that like Mickey's not so Scary Halloween, you're invited to dress up to join the revelry. Yep, that's right, another one of those rare occurrences where adults can have some fun in costume at the parks!

The official site for the event has a list of all the rules and restrictions on costumes, but also a bit more information about the events that will be taking place. One really cool thing, the villains will be out and about in the parks, which is always awesome to see. They seriously don't get enough love in the parks these days.

Also, no clue on what "select rides and attractions" will be open just yet, but it's safe to say (and expected) that not everything will be running in the middle of the night. Just what will be? No earthly idea right now.

Given that this is on a holiday weekend, expect the place to be packed and completely insane. Personally, I don't get why they decided to do it Memorial Day, as a slower time of year might be a better fit (like last year). Either way, if you're going or planning to go, just be prepared for lines and big crowds!

For more information head on over to Disney's official event page!

Shanghai Disneyland Gets A TRON Coaster.

Image from Instagram
Eisner Out's Shanghai Disneyland and the new "TRON Lightcycles Power Run" Coaster.

Michael Eisner, the Ex-CEO of the Walt Disney Company, has outed the newest ride at Shanghai Disneyland. Fan are both elated and completely pissed off at the exact same time once they found out what this new roller coaster with the black supports was.

The new roller coaster coming to Shanghai Disneyland is based on none other than the beloved franchise- TRON. The new "TRON Lightcycles Power Run" coaster is rumored to open with the park in December, 2015. No one is yet sure which coaster company is building the ride of if it's a Disney "In-House" project- without track yet being visible, fans and coaster folks aren't speculating.

...either way, why the hell is Shanghai getting all the awesome stuff?
We're getting stuck with Avatarland and Shanghai gets a Tron Coaster!

NOT FAIR.

Disneyland- Finding Nemo Submarine Ride to get Extended Refurbishment

Finding Nemo Submarine Ride Gets Extended Refurbishment.

Alright, this makes me a little uncomfortible because of Disney's track record with their 'submarine' rides. Remember, this is what was going to happen at Disney World but our 20,000 Leauges Under the Sea ride would never re-open from it's 'extended refurbishment' again.

On Friday Disneyland confirmed via The Disney Parks Blog that the Finding Nemo Submarine Ride would go down on January 6th and reopen LATE in 2014 for an extended refurbishment of the attraction.  Disneyland states the 5 million gallon 'lagoon' will be drained allowing crews to preform the massive ride refurbishment. They state when (if) the ride reopens guests will see a more vibrate and colorful version of the ride, which will be painted with a special mixture created by Disney which involved recycled glass.

I sincerely hope that this ride does reopen, unlike it's now deceased counterpart at Disney World in Orlando, Florida.

Smog Causes Problems for Shanghai Disneyland's Construction

Image from Disney and More
We all know China has pollution issues but now they are effecting the new Shanghai Disneyland.

The picture to the left was taken yesterday, when Shanghai went under a severe smog warning. Causing a ban on all fireworks, the shutdown of 30% of government vehicles and stopping construction on the new Shanghai Disneyland property.  It seems that these smog levels are mostly a problem during the winter months in Shanghai but have been known to happen anytime during the year.

This makes many stop and question Disney's logic in building a theme park in an area with so many problems, pollution problems which could cause health issues and illness of visitors.  While many will say those in Shanghai and China are used to these issues, Disney often brings in international visitors. Many of whom would find these kinds of conditions abhorrent.

It also makes one wonder what will happen when the park is open and these conditions happen? Will they close or remain open?  More so when their grand opening is set for December of 2015.

Disney Hollywood Studios- Yup, Star Wars is Coming..

Well outside of a massive press release, this is about as much conformation as we can get.

On Sunday- November 10th Bob Iger, the talking-head in charge of the Walt Disney Company stated this bit to  Bloomberg.  "There is a fair amount of development going on at Disney Imagineering right now to expand the Star Wars Presence in Disneyland and Walt Disney World and eventually other Disney theme parks around the world".

 So what does this mean?

Simply that Disney Hollywood Studios will change massively. In the past we've speculated about the topic of both Star Wars Land and a Cars Land coming to Hollywood Studios and we suspect we know where this will take place. However, without a full press release we can't tell you if we're right or not.  We also now believe this massive change will effect Disneyland also, although where they plan to stuff this in.. I can't tell you till March!

Never Fear, I'll either find out or make my own guesses!

It's an educated guessing game.  If you'd like to take a look into the past when we've talked about this topic, check this post from June: Rumor Alert- Star Wars Land coming to DHS?  Inside you'll find maps and various speculation about where I personally suspect the changes will happen.. but again, that's just my guess.

My Early Guess- This will happen sometime near after the opening of the train wreck new movie in 2015. So likely Disneyland in 2016 and Disney World in 2017.

Information from the cool folks over at Disney and More!

Rumor Alert :Disney Hollywood Studios getting a Star Wars Land?

...RUMOR ALERT...
Disney Hollywood Studios to get Star Wars Land?

image from MickeyTravels.com

Well Folks, if you read anything on the internet you've probably heard the newest rumor mill gossip over at Disney World's Hollywood Studios. This one has flown wild and free, faster then stink on a skunk, it's everyplace I've looked for the last two days. So I guess that means I need to stop groaning in horror at the idea of how Disney can ruin this one and address the issues here.

Back in March the internet collectively gasped when the Walt Disney Company purchased LucasFilms and all the other companies associated with George Lucas. Many squealed in joy while the rest of us collectively face-palmed. Like Disney didn't own enough of our collective childhood's already, they HAD to get Lucas too? I understand that they've had a long relationship with Lucas and a 4 BILLION dollar retirement fund is nice, but as we've all seen, it hasn't gone exactly as hoped. The first blow came when LucasArts was shut down, the games handed over to the second biggest Game Designer Jerks on the Planet, EA.

Then we got news of new Star Wars movies, we rejoiced. Only to suddenly groan when hearing it's going to be a 'saga' movie every two years, on the same time line but 'spin-offs'. Then some other kind of Star Wars movie, based on who knows what, every other year. So basically one Star Wars themed movie per year. The fate of our original beloved characters are unknown and the idea of a new movie every two years is cringe worthy. Who knows, it could be good but I'm braced for impact myself.

Now we've got  a rumor of "Star Wars Land" floating wild on the internet.

Don't get me wrong, I LOVE this idea. I've wanted it since I was old enough to understand Star Wars and fall in love with the series. However, Disney doesn't exactly have the best track record with these kind of things. CarsLand did well but we're under a dire and looming threat of "Avatar Land" happening over in Animal Kingdom. Part of what made Star Wars such an great addition to Hollywood Studios (or MGM Studios for those of us from the old school) was the fact Lucas controlled it. Every little part had to be approved of by him, to be sure it held up to the name of Star Wars before it was built. Now, that fail-safe check is gone. Disney has the reigns and as we can see, they've gone wild with the brand.

While I'm hoping for nothing but good to come out of this rumor (as in an awesome new land) I've got concerns. Serious Concerns. One of them is very serious indeed, where in the HELL are they going to put this new land?!

Well over on Theme Park Insider, Robert Niles' version of thus rumor is that we're not only getting a themed land for Star Wars but the earlier rumor of CarsLand coming to Disney Hollywood Studios is happening also. Leaving a bigger problem, where the 'rumor' says their going to stuff it!

Behold! My awesome Paint Skills!

Alright, I made yet another cool little map for you! The area above in RED is the area rumored for CarsLand. In BLUE we have the rumored area/areas for the Star Wars Land. Do you see the problem here yet? Maybe a few major attractions that draw huge crowds going under the axe? How about the other problem? Go ahead, try to spot it.

It's the simple fact of doing either one of these proposed lands at a single time (rumored to be 2018) would shut down roughly 1/4 of the park at any given time. We don't need to worry about them doing both at once since we all know that Disney is entirely incapable of opening an project in a single shot. Plus this would close between 2-4 big attractions, some just for the construction and some completely under the chopping block.

Another amazing map!

By looking at the above map you can see the major attractions in the questionable areas for the proposed new lands. Now, no one even knows if this will happen (read: probably) nor what attractions would be chopped (read: probably most of them). For CarsLand we'll be loosing Lights, Motors, Action the stunt show as well as the already now lack-luster (after they demolished half of it for the stunt show) Backlot Tour.  While neither of these is a really huge loss but it's still a matter of closing 1/4 of the parks area.

Next we look at the area rumored for Star Wars Land.  This would chop out Muppets 4D, Honey I Shrunk the Kids Play Area and possibly even the Indiana Jones Stunt Show. Also would also create a hellish flow path to get to and from the newly refurbished Star Tours attraction.  Now, this idea would also close roughly 1/4 of the park also.  To loose Muppets would be a nightmare and a travesty, more so since the show has gotten more popular with the newest Muppets Movie in 2011 and another coming in 2014.  Loosing Indiana Jones would be a nightmare, that show is hugely popular and the stage area is often used for multiple other events during the year.

So between the two areas, roughly 1/3 to 1/2 of the park would be under construction in a very short time span. Allowing 2 years to complete each land fully before you'd have to close down and demolish the next area to keep to the 2018 rumored opening and that's assuming they close it down in 2014 just after the construction in FantasyLand is finally complete.

As I said, I love the ideas. I've wanted a Star Wars themed land forever and I hope it does happen, I just hope Disney does it right and makes it a credit to the Star Wars name. As for CarsLand, I hope that isn't all we maybe looking at with such a huge area. With some luck maybe we'll see MORE Pixar themed attractions then just a copy of CarsLand from California Adventure.

However, As Always Disney is denying everything until they are damn good and ready to announce to us little people what's going on.  This is proved by Central Florida News 13 and what happened when they asked Disney about the rumors.  Note, they aren't DENYING anything just saying they have "nothing to announce at this time".

I leave you to draw your own judgements but... please make sure you cross your fingers, maybe sacrifice a chicken or even offer up your sanity to the elder gods but do something so they don't screw this up!

Tales from the Firing Line- Stupid Questions are STUPID

Stupid Questions.
We've all heard them come from tourists, in fact tourists are the number one source for all amusement of employees. The dumb questions we've all been asked simply have no limits! I'm sure you've all heard the joke about "What time is the 3 O'Clock Parade?" right?

Well folks, I'm here to tell you. Those kinds of questions really DO happen!
So I'm going share with you some of my personal favorite stupid questions that I've not only been asked myself while a theme park employee, but some of the best of what I've heard with my own two ears while visiting parks... followed by my own personal (and highly sarcastic)answers. So with that, let us begin!

Now to understand most of these, which nearly all come from the Orlando Area theme parks you'll have to know the basics about these parks. Such as location and rides to fully understand many of these.. if you have questions, I suppose I can explain them to you.

NOTE: Sarcastic remarks are my own and where never said to guests, this is simply the things that run threw my mind when hearing or being asked a very special stupid question!

1. What time is the 3 O'Clock Parade?
-It's at 4:15.

2. Where are the bathrooms? (While standing in front of a large sign saying "RESTROOMS")
-We don't have those here.

3. Why can't I go on JAWS? I'm at Magic Kingdom!
-You Dipshit. That's at Universal, This is Disney.

4. Aren't Disney and Universal the same?

5. Will this monorail take me to Seaworld?
-Sure! Jump in the lake!

6. Is this a ride?
-No, we only say that to confuse you.

7. Is that a real shark?
-No, it's a blow-up doll.

8. Do I have to wait in this line?
-No, your far to special to wait in line.

9. Why is it raining?
-Because that's what happens everyday in Orlando between 2-6pm!

10. Can't you make it stop raining?
-Sure, I'll get right on that weather shield technology!

11. Where did I park my car?
-Texas.

12. Does this roller coaster go upside down?
-Did you even LOOK at the ride?!

13. How many people are in the Sealion Suit?
(Please Read "The Sealion Suit Scandal")
- Two.

14.  Can I use this discount card?
-No, you have to pay double!

15.  Can I use my 'Disney Dollars' here?
-Yes, but that costs double too!

16. How many Tickets do I have to buy?
- 3,259!

17. Is this ride open?
-No, I thought I'd stand in the burning sun in front of this giant line, wearing polyester for fun!

18.  Do you work here?
-No. I just wear tacky fish-printed shirts to confuse you!

19.  Will I get wet?
-No, it's called SPLASH MOUNTAIN for no reason!

20. What are these "Hidden Mickeys"?
-Donald Duck.

21.  What are the 'Turkey Legs' really made of?
-Human Children, We're low. Can we use yours next?!

22.  Is that big 'Golf Ball' a hotel?
-Yes, let me book you a reservation!

23.  Is Shamu really a boy?
-No, she's a Enuch!

24.  Is Walt Disney's head REALLY frozen under the park?
-Yes, we all say "Good Morning" to it everyday!

25. Can you watch my kid so I can go on "ride"?
-Can I eat them?!

.....and I give you one I didn't hear myself but still makes me laugh!
"I heard the first male to get pregnant will inherit Disney World, Is that true?!"

What happened to the Characters in Flight Balloon?

Cause I have to tell you, I was confused as hell when I came home from a lovely weekend out to hear that all of Disney's "Characters in Flight" balloons around the world had been shut down.. some even removed very quickly.  I had to contact a friend to even find out what on earth they where talking about because somehow my brain-in-vacation-mode didn't connect the dots!

Well naturally when I got home and sat down for some serious internet searching to try and find an answer! After a little while I came across what many are suspecting is the reason, so I'm here to share it with the rest of you!

Five people where injured when the same type of balloon which operates as Disney's "Characters in Flight" sprung a leak and suddenly became very close friends with gravity.

"The problem was a rupture

in the gas-filled bag. Park officials refused to provide details, but some witnesses said the gash was more than three meters wide.

Well Folks, I think after that article and some really shocking pictures it's easy to see that Disney would quickly bring down their own fleet. However I'm surprised to find out the balloon at Downtown Disney is Orlando, Florida has been completely removed. Perhaps it's simply for a detailed check of all operating items and the balloon its-self but I suspect this could be a permanent closure and full removal for this pay-per-ride attraction.  The balloons in Disneyland and Disneyland Paris are also closed until further notice, no word of their complete removal has been posted yet to my knowledge.

I'll post more information if any becomes available, so please stay tuned!

Daily Distractions- 6/26

Daily Distraction 6/26

Good Morning!
You may have noticed, Daily Distractions has been a bit spotty on updates lately. Well it's an easy explanation, I've got to dig up new material for you lovely folks! That's right, the list I made when I began 'Daily Distractions' has pretty much empty now. So this week, I'll be hunting down fun and exciting new things to post up for the Daily Distractions!

Anyway, let's get onto today's distraction!

Today I've got something fun and very much geeky for you, a lovely set of blue-prints which feature many of Disney's Signature rides from all their parks across the globe! This lovely set of goodies comes to us from a Flickr user named Enfilm. How they have all these I've got no idea but I'd love to have some of them printed as wall art for myself!

Daily Distractions 6/14

Thursday 6/14

Good Morning and Welcome to Daily Distractions!
Just in case you didn't know what your looking at, it's always good to remind folks.
Daily Distractions is going to focus on a few of my favorite Blogs to read in the coming days, so keep checking back to see what the nutcase behind Insanity Lurks Inside reads herself.

Today's Distraction is another favorite blog of mine to visit. Epcot Explorer is a blog that devotes most of it's time to my favorite Disney World theme park: Epcot Center and World Showcase! They often do photos of new and updated attractions as well as some great history pieces, they are some very friendly and knowledgeable folks about Epcot and it's attractions so feel free to ask questions or pipe up!
Recently they've posted a nice piece on CarsLand at Disneyland as well as updates on Test Track and World Showcase.

Daily Distractions 6/13

Wednesday 6/13

Good Afternoon Friends!
Daily Distraction is back in gear and ready to roll. Today's Distraction is an interesting Tumblr I found randomly while browsing around. KD run a tumblr with some amazing pictures of Disney but also she designs and creates fashion outfits based of Disney Movies and Attractions! I found some of them a little to stylish for my "Tanktop and shorts" self but they're pretty cool to look at anyway! So head over to the page and take a peek threw her stuff!

Random News- Things Missed Edition. Part 1.

Good Afternoon,

Well I promised an update of all the crazy things which have been going on, most of which where missed due to the lone staff member here being out of town for the weekend. Well, It took some digging around online and checking of many various websites but I've got it now!

Let's start with Universal Orlando.
-As expected USO has raised their ticket prices, this comes not long after Disney Parks had raised all of their rates across the board. It seems like every two years if one raises prices the other shoe drops not far behind them. USO's new base ticket price is sitting at $89. An increase of $1 to match the old rate of Disney World. Orlando Sentinel- USO Ticket Price Raise

-Also over at USO the new attraction Despicable Me: Minion Mayhem has begin limited "Technical Rehearsals" to limited numbers of guests. This means they are working out the various kinks in the ride and it's not yet open for full operation. Universal stated it will be opening this summer but they have not yet announced a date, you can read the full blub about Minion Mayhem in the Orlando Sentinel!

Epcot Center.
-The new "Brave: Highland Games" attraction is now open over at Epcot Center now threw July 9th.
Orlando Theme Park News has a great photo line up and write up of this new kid-friendly attraction themed off their new Pixar movie Brave.

Magic Kingdom.
-Well Disney Parks Blog posted up a 'Sneak Peek' of the new Dueling Dumbo's snazzy interactive queue line that's hidden within the massive tent directly behind the attraction. This is where the new line will be housed as soon as the effects are completed. Personally, I like the way it looks and it seems like a lot of creativity went into this project. Check out the video below!

DisneyLand.
Well not to leave the West Coast out, Disneyland has finally opened up the new CarsLand area to Special Guests and Annual Pass Member's as a soft opening. Needless to say it didn't take very long to photos and video to hit the interent! I've been trying for months now to get photos of the progress but none of my sources have ever panned out, so I guess we're let to folks with more time and money then me to get these photos and videos!
Theme Park Insider did a nice PhotoTour of the area.
I also found online a full ride-threw video of the big ticket attraction "Radiator Springs Racers" on YouTube! It reminds me a LOT of Test Track but with a new theme and better technology! Check it out below.

Needless to say this isn't all the news floating around in the theme park world right now! However, I'll devote another page to even more news here shortly!

Hope you've enjoyed this little news round-up, keep your eyes open for more coming soon!
